How to Keep Browser Tabs from Appearing in the Alt + Tab Switcher

Posted By Kylee.Campanella

The Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut is a useful feature in Windows that allows users to quickly switch between open applications and Windows. However, if you have multiple tabs open in your web browser, they will appear in the Alt + Tab switcher, making it challenging to find the application or window you need. This can be frustrating and time-consuming, especially if you have many tabs open.

To solve this problem, you can disable the feature that causes browser tabs to appear in the Alt + Tab switcher. This simple process can be done in a few easy steps.

Here’s how to keep browser tabs from appearing when you Alt + Tab:

  1. Open your web browser of choice (e.g. Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox).
  2. Type “about:flags” (without the quotes) in the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Look for the option that says “Sets a flag to allow Windows to start collecting recent applications and toasts to use with Alt + Tab” and disable it.
  4. Restart your web browser.

Once you’ve completed these steps, your browser tabs will no longer appear in the Alt + Tab switcher. This will make it easier to find the application or window you need when using this keyboard shortcut.

Overall, disabling the feature that causes browser tabs to appear in the Alt + Tab switcher is a quick and easy way to improve your productivity and efficiency when working on your computer. With this feature disabled, you’ll be able to switch between applications and Windows more easily and with less distraction.
